Promotional activity within the domestic market:

Whistles is fairly low key when it comes to promoting their brand, they utilise social media, product placement and word of mouth in order to promote their products. Within the UK, Whistles offers online vouchers, giving their consumer a certain percentage off their order. Whistles teamed up with Grazia, who offered a 25% Whistles discount code to their readers for a limited time in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 (Whistles, 2015).

Whistles products have featured in many magazines such as British Vogue, Stella magazine, Tatler, Elle UK, The Times Magazine and Grazia. Celebrity endorsement also plays an important part in promoting the brand, The Guardian featured an article on Alexa Chung to coincide with the launch of her book ‘It’, where she modelled her top picks for autumn, including two Whistles’ pieces. The Duchess of Cambridge has also been photographed in several Whistles’ items, which have boosted sales.

Whistles also teamed up with Sony when they were releasing the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact smartphone. The two were running a competition, offering the chance to win a smartphone, along with all the Whistles clothes featured in the short film promoting the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact.

Popular fashion bloggers also help to promote the Whistles brand. The satorialist featured another fashion blogger wearing a pair of Whisltles Hoshiko patchwork culottes (Whistles, 2015).
